Location: Grand Canyon
Adventure Type: North-to-South traverse of the Grand Canyon
Fundraise Minimum Amount: $1000.00 USD

Grand CanyoN Details

This is one of the most epic adventures that you will experience. We'll start in Phoenix, AZ where everyone will fly and meet up before traveling to the North Rim. We'll camp near the North rim and have an early wake-up before descending into the Canyon and head down 4,000’ via the North Kaibab Trail and into Phantom Ranch. After a quick break, we'll cross and work our way along the Colorado River. The crescendo of this adventure has our team ascending a 4,500' climb through the Devil's Backbone on the Bright Angel Trail and completing the 23-mile traverse.

Hot dinner and tents (set-up) will greet us at camp. We’ll have some beers and tell lies before we settle in for the night. All this effort to benefit Kaniksu Ultra's SERE Memorial Fund. This fund supports the local community, SERE families, as well as scholarships.

Important Considerations:

  • Fundraise minimum covers your transportation to/from the Grand Canyon; dinner the night of day one; breakfast and dinner on day two; and breakfast on day three; and all camping permits.

  • The fundraise minimum does not cover your flight or any hotel costs to/from Phoenix, AZ; any trail nutrition you need for the traverse.

  • The entire distance is about 23ish miles with approximately 8,500 feet elevation up and down.

  • Expect stretches of direct sun and high temps for hours

  • Camping at night can get down to 30 degrees. You'll need to bring a tent, sleeping bag, and comfy clothes for the night. We'll send you a full equipment list a few months prior to the trip.

  • One guide will stay at the front of the group and one to the back – no one goes it alone!

  • The journey is strenuous and physical training is necessary preparation
